PACKAGE AND THE BAGGAGE Help for Couples and Their Counselors Neil D. Isaacs
THE PACKAGE AND THE BAGGAGE occupies a middle ground between pop-psych lingo that aims for a lowest common denominator and academic/professional discourse (with its inevitable reliance on jargon and doctrinaire methodology/modality). Understanding the differences between the “package” and “baggage” are central and vital to a couple's ability to achieve stability, success and fulfilment. The book examines specific issues, identifying characteristic problems that weaken couples' relationships and presenting: · principles that may be applied to address the problems · exercises that may be undertaken as aids to solution
The primary audience consists of couples who are interested in examining and, perhaps, relieving difficulties in their relationships, whether or not they are considering therapy. The secondary audience is the growing cohort of mental health professionals who work with troubled couples.
Descriptions, narratives and dialogue derived from cases and clients provide the necessary fleshing out of the skeletal principles that structure the book's argument. No viable guide could work without them.

PARADOXES OF THE HIGHEST SCIENCE With Footnotes by a Master of the Wisdom Eliphas Levi
By the time of his death in 1875, Eliphas Levi was recognized in both Europe and America as the greatest occultist of the 19th century. In life, his work was the inspiration for Albert Pike's Morals and Dogma, the most influential American Masonic book of its day, and in death, it proved to be a seminal influence on figures as diverse as Madame Blavatsky, A.E. Waite, and Aleister Crowley but during his lifetime none of his writings appeared in English.
The Paradoxes of the Highest Science first appeared in 1883 in Calcutta as a pamphlet in the Theosophical Miscellanies series. In it, Levi makes an appeal for a balance between science and religion by addressing seven paradoxical statements including "Religion is magic sanctioned by authority, liberty is obedience to the Law, and reason is God." Included in this edition are the extensive and illuminating footnotes that were added to Levi's text.
Some of these are by the anonymous translator, and some by the 'Eminent Occultist' who seems to have been Madame Blavatsky herself. Levi could have asked for no better commentator upon his work.
PARALLEL PROCESS Growing Alongside Your Adolescent or Young Adult Child in Treatment Krissy Pozatek
For many parents of troubled teenagers, a therapeutic programme that takes the child from the home for a period of time offers some respite from the daily tumult of playing up, lies and tension that has left the family under siege. However, just as the teenager is embarking on a journey of self-discovery, skill-development and emotional maturation, so parents, too, need to use this time to recognise that their own patterns may have contributed to their family’s downward spiral. This is the Parallel Process.
Using case studies garnered from her many years as an adolescent and family therapist, Krissy Pozatek shows parents of pre-teens, adolescents and young adults how they can help their children by attuning to emotions, setting limits, not rushing to their rescue and allowing them to take responsibility for their actions, while recognising their own patterns of emotional withdrawal, workaholism and of surrendering their lives and personalities to parenting. As such, THE PARALLEL PROCESS is an essential primer for all parents, whether of troubled teens or not, who are seeking to help the family stay and grow together as they negotiate the potentially difficult teenage years.
PARANORMAL EQUATION A New Scientific Perspective on Remote Viewing, Clairvoyance, and Other Inexplicable Phenomena James D. Stein
Most of us think science is incapable of explaining supernatural phenomena. This would include everything from ghosts and communication with the dead to extrasensory perception (ESP), precognition and telekinesis. Scientists are generally highly sceptical of the existence of such phenomena because of the lack of the rigorous documentation that science requires. Nevertheless, many great scientists have believed - and do believe - in the supernatural.
THE PARANORMAL EQUATION presents an argument for the existence of supernatural phenomena based on the mathematics and science discovered during the last century. It, also explains why supernatural phenomena must exist if the universe satisfies certain conditions— - onditions which are accepted by many working scientists.
THE PARANORMAL EQUATION explores such questions as:
· How can we distinguish between the truly unknown and the supernatural? · How have scientists attempted to study the supernatural? · What are the rational reasons for believing in the supernatural? · Which hypotheses about the universe mandate the existence of supernatural phenomena?
Anyone interested in how science is beginning to understand and even explain the seemingly unexplainable will want to read this fascinating new title.
PARAPSYCHOLOGY REVOLUTION A Concise Anthology of Paranormal and Psychical Research Compilation and Commentary by Robert M. Schoch and Logan Yonavjak
Grounded in both scientific acumen and constructive enquiry, this anthology shines a rare, clarifying light on the controversial realms of psychical and paranormal research, surveying reports, essays and arguments from more than a century of investigation into matters such as clairvoyance, telepathy and past-life regression.
In the past one hundred and twenty-five years - despite a relative paucity of funding and the troubling persistence of fraud - serious enquiry into the paranormal, particularly as it relates to clairvoyance and psychical perception, has successfully entered the scientific age.
Studies in the modern laboratory, employing rigorous methodology and peer-reviewed oversight, have conclusively detected statistical anomalies that suggest the presence of some not yet understood faculty of the human mind. In THE PARAPSYCHOLOGY REVOLUTION, Robert M. Schoch - a scholar widely known for his geological theories that question the conventional dating of the Great Sphinx - and researcher Logan Yonavjak introduce and anthologise core writings that underscore the range and continuing challenges of psychical research.
The book's extensive introduction and the editors' commentary on individual essays and sections highlight milestones, feuds and key players that mark the nascent history of this fascinating and important field of research. Finally, THE PARASPYCHOLOGY REVOLUTION addresses and clarifies the all-important question: is there legitimate evidence for a world beyond the ordinary?

Now instead of having to comb through medical texts or scour the internet for information, concerned parents of children with hip dysplasia can have all the information they need for treating their children at their fingertips.
Hip dysplasia affects 1 in 1,000 babies, either as developmental hip dysplasia (DDH) or congential hip dysplasia (CDH). If untreated, the condition can cause serious hip problems in adulthood.
Fortunately, this condition responds well to medical treatment and this book guides concerned parents through all of the options and obstacles of treating a child with hip dysplasia. The book covers hip anatomy, risk factors, how diagnosis is made, how to communicate with doctors about the condition and covers harnesses, braces, casts, surgery and potential complications for children ages 0-17. The book, also, addresses the special care needs of children with hip dysplasia and how to manage pain at home. It concludes with a list of resources.
